A family friendly hike, experience the beauty of South West Iceland and enjoy one of the gifts that make Iceland unique, its hot springs. Just about 70 kilometres from Reykjavík is the town of Hveragerði and where our hike begins. Our destination is the phenomenal Steamy Valley or Reykjadalur, its local name. The seven kilometre hike to the valley littered with natural, hot steamy pools is worth every single step. Two hours of bathing in the glorious steamy waters will leave you relaxed from the hike and prepare you for the trip back.
The purpose of the hike is to enjoy the journey to the top and the surroundings. The hiking distance is roughly seven kilometres, with three and a half kilometre climb. It usually takes just over an hour to get to the hot springs. We allow for about two hours bathing while your guide gives you a history lesson about the hot springs and the surrounding area.
With these Iceland hot springs, what you’d have just experienced is exactly what the local people do when they go bathing up in the valley. This tour is an opportunity to learn a little about local culture and live just like a local, even if it’s just for a few hours.
Don't forget your camera as the views surrounding your hike to the hot springs are unforgettable.
