In addition to this, this path of 17 km in length is an excellent place to witness and enjoy a lot of Panama ́s biodiversity, including plants, butterflies, amphibians, monkeys and hundreds of other interesting wild creatures. The Pipeline Road is located on the border of the Soberania National Park, just 40 min from Panama City. During WWII, a petroleum pipeline and its service road were built across the isthmus of Panama. The pipeline was never used, but the single-lane, gravel-and-dirt road persists and allows entry through the center of this incredible national park. This tour departs at 6:30 am with a naturalist guide. The first 2 km of the road is a wide, level, gravel road easily driven by car. The entire 17.5-km length of Pipeline Road is easily walked. The first 7-km section is mostly level, whereas the 10.5-km section farther in is more hilly. Be ready for a nice hike surrounded with the most beautiful mature tropical forest.
