Begin to hike at Santiago Atitlan village until you get to the top of Toliman Volcano. The hike to the summit will take about 4 hours followed by a 3-hour hike back. The trail is surrounded by green vegetation with corn fields. The twin volcano of Atitlán has two peaks, the north and south peaks. The south peak is the higher part of the volcano, and it has a spectacular view of 360 degrees, while the north peak holds the volcano's crater which has a diameter of 200 meters. On the base of the volcano you will fine beautiful vegetation.
The ascent is possible in a day, departing early in the morning and coming back in the afternoon without any kind of vehicle. The hike starts at an altitude of 1590 meters above sea level and end at f 3237 meters above sea level.
