Gain entry into the sanctuary and let the wild world of Oz open up to you. Set in a natural bushland environment, Healesville Sanctuary is lined with paths that lead to areas where you can spy animals like dingoes, wombats, wallabies, kangaroos, and more than 200 different species of birds in a natural environment.
As for one of the more surprising discoveries here: Healesville was the first place in Australia to successfully breed a platypus in captivity (way back in 1943). Say hi to the duck-billed mammals at a popular riverside exhibit.
Don't miss one of the most popular shows called Spirits in the Sky. In this flight arena, you get a close-up look at
native parrots, birds of prey and other majestic birds.

You'll also get a chance to learn about how the sanctuary staff works together to (responsibly) breed rare animals, and what
we can all do to help save creatures that are under the threat of
extinction. As you roam the grounds, chat with the veterinarians who help rescue and care for all these creatures.
