During winter, the scenic landscape surrounding Port aux Basque transforms into a wonderland of white hills and frozen waterways. When you can no longer take an ATV out on trails to explore the beautiful backcountry, it's time to head out on foot (or ski or snowshoe) to experience the countryside in a whole new way.

Your tour starts in the morning in order to make sure you return before the winter sun sets behind the early afternoon horizon. You can choose either skis or snowshoes, depending on your comfort level, to take out on your trip.  Your guide will advise you on the choice and help outfit you in order to make sure you are both safe and comfortable.  Once you are set, it's time to leave and head out towards the private fishing hole.  

Once you approach your fishing spot, you will stop for a trail lunch and a quiet moment to appreciate the frozen landscape. After that, it's time to try your hand at ice fishing. Your local, professional guide will show you not only the best places to fish, but where to explore the surroundings without encountering another human soul. You'll want a warm beverage and an extra layer with you, as temperatures this time of year often stay below freezing for much of the day.
