The most predominant religion in Thailand is Buddhism, with approximately 95% of Thai people practicing the Theravada discipline of Buddhism. Due to this, it is very common to see Monks wandering the Bangkok streets. It is also the reason why Thailand has approximately 26,000 temples (aka Wat’s).
On this half-day tour you will visit 3 of the most significant temples in Bangkok and learn why this city is so renowned for its culture and Buddhist sacredness.
The first temple you will visit is Wat Traimit. This temple is also known as the temple of the Golden Buddha. The reason for this is because the temple is home to a 3m (10 feet) tall statue of Buddha crafted from 5500kg (5.5 tons) of solid gold. It is believed to be the largest solid gold statue in the world.
The tour will continue through Chinatown, where you will come across the second temple of the day, Wat Pho. Possibly one of the most well-known temples in Thailand, Wat Pho is home to the famous Reclining Buddha. 46m (151 feet) in length and 15m (49 feet) tall, this Buddha is the largest in Bangkok.
Last but not least, you visit Wat Benchamabophit. Also known as the Marble Temple, this monastery was built out of white Italian marble from Carrara in the 19th century and houses one of the country's most beautiful Buddha images.
After this, you will be taken back to your hotel safely.
