Cycling along the quiet back streets, through many small local communities, you will get a truly unique insight into daily local life in Bangkok.
Our first stop is the Old Customs House, built in the 1890’s it was once the gateway to Thailand levying taxes on traders moving in and out of the kingdom. There are plenty of photo opportunities whilst your guide takes you on an interesting tour of this beautiful majestic building.
After passing through a Muslim community and a mind-blowing maze of turns we arrive at the ancient Chow Sue Kong Chinese Shrine. Tucked away in Talat Noi this shrine is the center of the 200-year-old Chinese community that is one of the oldest in Bangkok.
‘Enter the Dragon’, the vibrant and seemingly chaotic Chinatown, the center of the 1782 Chinese settlement where it is said you can find just about anything. Cycling through the busy market streets is exhilarating; enjoy the vibrant colors and activities of the busy stalls and the fabulous scents from the famous street food vendors.
At Pak Khlong Talat, the biggest fresh flower and vegetable market in Bangkok, you will be stunned at the array of dazzling fauna from across Thailand. Here you can walk among this truly amazing area and try some delicious local Thai snacks that your guide will buy for you.
On the ferry across the River of Kings, the lifeblood of Bangkok, you can relax and watch the beautiful city sights unfold. On the other side you will visit Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn this is one of the most striking riverside landmarks in Bangkok. Also, not to be missed is Wat Prayoon in the Old Portuguese community; its large white chedi is the only one of this style in Bangkok.
As you meander along the river cycle path you can enjoy the refreshing cool breeze and the fantastic views back across the city.
