Despite being known by most Romanians as the House of the People, this nickname is purely ironical, as it was never intended to serve the ordinary people, being instead designed as a statement of the communist dictator’s power and megalomania.
Village Museum opened in 1936, this fantastic open-air museums was one of the first of its kind in Europe. Situated on the shore of the scenic Herastrau Lake and stretched over a surface of 38 acres, the museum represents a micro-universe of the traditional Romanian village with houses taken from all of the country’s historical regions, as well as old wooden churches, wind mills and workshops belonging to the craftsmen.
Triumphal Arch the best reminder of the time when Bucharest was called Little Paris originates from 1936 and it stands as a monument to the Great Union of Romania from 1918.
Kiseleff Boulevard running through the beautiful Northern part of the city, the avenue is flanked by trees and old elegant buildings housing embassies and museums.
Victory Avenue one of the oldest streets in Bucharest dating back to the 17th century, the avenue features majestic palaces, art museums, former residences of the aristocracy and old churches.
