Join this 4-hour walking tour to explore the beauty of the Kottawa Forest Reserve. This low country rain forest expands 37 acres and features over 170 species of trees and wildlife and was declared a forest reserve in 1937.Your tour orientation starts at around 7am for a morning departure at 7:30am, or around 2pm for an afternoon departure at 2:30pm. You will be transported by Tuk Tuk to Kottawa, which is about a 30 minute drive.
Meet your nature guide at Kottawa and enter the nature reserve, a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. Here you will find typical features of a rainforest, with wet evergreen vegetation and tall trees. Kottawa has over 170 tree species, 100 of which are native to Sri Lanka. You will find many of them numbered and labeled with their botanic names.
In Kottawa Arboretum, observe about a variety of species Sri Lankan butterflies and species of birds, such as yellow-fronted barbet, brown-capped babbler, spot-winged thrush, Sri Lankan spurfowl and grey hornbill.
After your 3-hour (approximately) walk, you will be transported back by Tuk Tuk to your departure point.
