This extraordinary ride around Delhi’s time-worn history starts at the heart of the city, Connaught Place. After indulging in a South Indian style lunch at Sarvana Bhawan Restaurant, move on to visit the Ancient Hanuman temple and witness locals engaging in selfless social service at the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. From there, move to the National Museum of Modern Art, a center for Indian contemporary art. Following that, take a walk along the Rashtrapati Bhawan and indulge in the beauty of India Gate with a scoop of ice cream. You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Connaught Place, the Heart of Delhi. One of Delhi’s favorite hangout spots, Connaught Place was constructed in 1931 during the British Raj and since then it has been the center for all cultural, political and economic activities of the country.

After getting picked up, head straight to Delhi’s most celebrated South Indian restaurant, Sarvana Bhawan, for lunch. You might have to wait for a few minutes to get seats but the wait is worth it.

Post lunch, you will be transported to the Ancient Hanuman temple, believed to be one of the five temples that were built during the time of the Mahabharata. The main deity in the temple is Lord Hanuman, famously known as the Monkey God, and every day devotees congregate at the temple premises in indefinite numbers. Learn as your guide narrates the tales and legends from the past.

Apart from the ancient Idol, the temple area is also famous for colorful bangles and age-old henna art which has been practiced around the temple for many years. Witness the beautiful henna designs, indulge in its exotic smell and even get tattooed if you want.

After an hour, proceed walking towards the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, topped by golden domes, and crafted with spotless white-marble. The Gurudwara even has a cosmic tank, which is believed to have healing powers. The concept of langar is practiced here, and all people regardless of race or religion may eat in the Gurdwara kitchen (langar hall) for free.

Admire the gigantic kitchen utensils that help prepare meals for thousands of people every day and even get a chance to volunteer in the langar (contact the local tour operator after booking if you would like them to arrange a volunteer opportunity for you). Take one hour here to drench in the enormity of culture and experience peace.

After such enormous culture, get ready to drown in the History of Delhi as you head to the National Gallery of Modern Art. Established in the year 1954, this is one of the best places in Delhi to experience Indian contemporary art. After exploring the gallery for an hour, your guide will take you down the pages of Indian heritage with a leisurely stroll around Rasthapati Bhawan to observe its magnificent architecture. Walk past the secretarial buildings in this area to experience the center of power.

Proceed on to the historical Rajpath under the guidance of your guide as they explain to you the significance of the phenomenal Indian Gate. Spend around an hour and half here as there is no better way to lavish your evening in Delhi than this. At the end of the tour your guide will drop you back to your hotel with memories to last forever.
