Be picked up by your friendly and professional driver in an air conditioned vehicle and be driven to Madaba. Madaba is known as the City of Mosaics and first mentioned in the Bible at the time of 1200 BC. It is renowned for its Umayyad and Byzantine mosaics. Your 40 minute drive from Amman will be to the famous St. George Latin Church with the most admire piece of the 6th-century map of the Holy Land in the Basilica, which contains more than 2 million pieces of stone. You will have plenty of time to take photos, meditate, pray, and browse in the church.
After the visit to the St. George Church your will meet your driver at the entrance and take a short drive to the summit of Mount Nebo where Moses stood and saw the Promised Land but did not enter and embrace the beautiful views over the Dead Sea. Here, a church marks the Holy grounds thought to be the burial site of Moses and the Serpentine Cross which symbolizes the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Once you have finished from Mt. Nebo and the church grounds, your driver will be waiting at the bottom of the hill to take you to the original Mosaic Factory where you will have the opportunity to get a first-hand look of authentic Mosaic making in a large showroom of hand crafted olive woods and other Jordanian handicrafts. Shopping is optional and at your leisure.
