Set in the 1930s in New York the plot focuses on Nathan Detroit, a gambler who has aspirations to set up a game of Craps. In an attempt to finance the $1,000 required to pay for the owner of the garage to host the game, Detroit hedges a bet with fellow gambler Sky Masterson that he can’t get the prudish Sarah Brown to agree to a date. Though the money isn’t Detroit’s only problem, his long-term girlfriend wants to become his wife.
The Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of the classic Broadway musical includes several memorable songs, including ‘Luck Be a Lady’, ‘A Bushel and a Peck and ‘Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat.’ Jamie Parker is reprising the role of Sky Masterson from Chichester.
