In 2017 Wittenberg will be celebrating the 500th anniversary of the start of the Reformation.
Start your tour with an hour train journey from Berlin to the picturesque town of Wittenberg. A town with stunning architecture, Wittenberg boasts a Renaissance town hall, and several medieval churches. Visit St. Mary’s church where Martin Luther preached more than 2000 times and then continue on to see the “Luther House” museum where your guide will take you on a private tour, and of course you'll have the unique opportunity to witness the door where Luther nailed his 95 Theses 1517. This act is widely regarded as having started the Reformation.
There will also be some free time to enjoy a bit of Wittenberg at your own pace. It’s a small town that’s easily navigated by foot, so you could take a walk through the town centre, sit down for some lunch, and even get yourself a pint of good German beer.
After the tour the guide will accompany you on the train back to Berlin.
