On this round trip we will visit the Lofotr Viking Museum and the fishing village Henningsvær. We will focus on activities and circumstances that are typical for the season.1983 saw the start of the excavation, and in 1986 - 1989 specialists scholars from the entire Nordic area converged Borg. The excavation slowly but surely uncovered the largest house in the Viking world, both in Norway and in Europe. Today, the Lofotr Viking Museum consists of an impressive reconstruction of the Chieftain´s house, in full size (83 meters long), next to the site of the original house. The museum exhibitions offers archaeological artifacts, film and gift shop.
With the mountain at its back and otherwise surrounded by the sea, Henningsvær was a natural hub of activity during the Lofoten Winter Fishery in earlier days. Today, Henningsvær is still a fascinating destination with its many small craft shops, art galleries and pleasant atmosphere. Because of the many islands joined by bridges, Henningsvær is often called "the Venice of Lofoten".
Our guided Lofoten tour runs from Svolvær harbour terminal at 09:00 (9 a.m.) and lasts for about 6 hours. Departure every day during the summer season, and on selected days in autumn and winter. The price includes bus transport, local guide and entrance at the Lofotr Viking Museum. Meals are not included, you may want to bring a light lunch bag or a snack. In summer the café at Lofotr Viking Museum is open.
