Lake Tahoe is a paradise for a lover of the outdoors - gigantic, beautiful mountains ring a crystal clear lake dozens of miles long and thousands of feet deep. Ski resorts, casinos, hiking trails and public parks create an intense mosaic of natural and man-made wonders offering an incredible variety of activities available nearly year round. With so much to do, guided tours offer an easy opportunity to learn more about the area and solicit local recommendations about the best places to eat, hike, sunbathe and explore. During the summer, kayaking can be an especially fun way to get out on the lake, relax, and take an appreciative look around.
Your exclusive Sand Harbor kayak tour starts by the Sand Harbor Beach parking lot. Widely considered one of the best and most scenic beaches along the eastern side of the lake, the parking lot fills early during the summer time so don't be late for your 9am tour. After meeting your guide and checking in, you will head to the launch point to board your kayak and get your life jacket and paddle. Depending on the option you select, you'll either have a single person or 2-person kayak to call your own as you head out. As you paddle out into the lake, you will first be surrounded by granite boulders before moving out into deeper waters. Your guide will fill you in on the high-rolling history of Lake Tahoe's earlier days as you pass by the historic Thunderbird Lodge and and secluded, private beaches. Stopping for lunch by a hidden inlet, you'll be free to jump off rocks or go for a swim to cool down as the temperatures begin to rise.
The tour concludes at approximately 1:30 back at the Sand Dollar Beach parking lot where you will return your kayak and paddle and either head out towards nearby South Lake Tahoe for more fun and entertainment or stick around at the beach to continue relaxing by the water.
