Today, the island is a peaceful retreat for the city where you can walk quiet streets, see colonial architecture and have lunch.Your guide and river will meet you at your Dakar accommodation at the morning hour of your choosing. You will then have short ride to the Gorée Island ferry terminal, where you will embark on a short boat ride to the infamous Gorée Island, the largest slave-trading center on the African coast from the 15th to the 19th centuries. Upon arrival on the island, your guide will lead you on a walking tour, visiting the various historical, architectural and cultural sites if the island. Your tour will conclude with a stop at the House of Slaves Museum and its Door of No Return. This tour is a must for anyone visiting Dakar. Lunch, the return ferry ticket, and return transportation to your accommodation are included.
