Geiranger Shore Excursion: Westeras Hike

An active excursion in Geiranger? The hike to Westerås will lead you through one of the most picturesque sides of Norway. You will depart from Geiranger by bus and drive to Hole where the adventure starts. Hike up to Storseterfossen, an amazing waterfall which falls nearly 30 meters in a curve from the side of the mountain. This allows you to walk behind it. Enjoy a cup of coffee and fresh waffles at the Westerås farm and enjoy the impressive views, before going back to the village.From the port of Geiranger, the bus will take you through the village and pass a.o. the Church of Geiranger and the Union Hotel. After several hairpin bands, you will arrive at ‘Hole‘. This is where the hike begins. In approximately 60-75 minutes you will reach Storseterfossen, an amazingly beautiful waterfall which falls nearly 30 meters in a curve from the side of the mountain. This allows you to actually stand underneath the fall itself.

The excursion continues downhill to the farm of Westerås, a farm which was abandoned years ago due to the danger of avalanchess in the winter. In the summer the farm is full of activity. Here you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee, tea, a glass of water and even waffles (optional, not included). When it is time to go, you will walk back to Hole, where the bus awaits you and takes you back to the village of Geiranger.
