The Gap of Dunloe is a mountain pass that was carved out two million years ago by slow moving glacial ice.
Stunning, breath-taking, unique and beautiful panoramic views. The gap has only been paved in recent years. It remains a narrow (room for only one car to pass) and winding road. When the road was unpaved, cars were forbidden, and the tradition of walking the route remains today. Horse drawn traps four occupant carts called jaunting cars — can be hired for the trip through the gap.
The shuttle bus stops in the car park of Kate Kearney's, where you begin your self guided day of adventure, See you again at 4 pm!!
The walk from Kate Kearney’s Cottage to Lord Brandon’s Cottage takes about two and a half hours. When you return from the summit there is a great selection of local pubs restaurants and shops to unwind, the Bus returns daily from Kate Kearney's at 4pm
