This one day tour from Bucharest will take you on a wonderful discovery of two emblematic Romanian castles: Peles and Cantacuzino, each one part of the legacy of two families who changed the country’s history. Located very close to each other, in the mountain resorts Busteni and Sinaia, the two castles have state of the art architecture, according to their owners' wishes: the royal family Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and the princely family of Byzantine origins, Cantacuzino. We drive early morning from your hotel in Bucharest. Our first stop is the Peles Castle in Sinaia, a mountain resort from the popular Prahova Valley. After lunch we head to the nearby resort from Busteni where we visit the Cantacuzino Castle.

The summer residence of King Carol the 1st, this fairy tale castle from Sinaia is one of the most impressive castles in Romania and Europe. Built between 1873 and 1914 with visible elements of the German Renaissance style, but used as a residence since 1883, the castle was constructed after the plans of famous architects of the time. Close to Peles Castle lies Pelisor, the smaller, yet stunning residence of Queen Maria and King Ferdinand.

We have lunch in Sinaia.

The Cantacuzino family is one of the oldest princely families in Romania, going back to the Byzantine emperors. In 1911, one of its richest descendants, Gheorghe Cantacuzino, also nicknamed ‘Nababu’ because of its vast fortune, built a magnificent castle in Busteni. Designed in the Neo-Romanian style by one of the most famous architects of the time, Grigore Cerchez, the castle has a surface of 3,148 square meters and splendid romantic interiors.
