Jaunmoku castle
Jaunmokas palace combining Neo-Gothic shapes with elements of Art Nouveau is a special place among Latvian architectural masterpieces. It is situated in Tukums District, was designed by an architect, Wilhelm Bockslaff, and built in 1901 as a hunting palace for George Armitstead, a Mayor of Riga City.
Old town of Kandava
On the descent of the Abava River ancient valley where the stream changes its direction from north to west, one of the most picturesque towns of Latvia has grown – Kandava. It was mentioned for the first time in 1230, but it had already existed as a settlement for some centuries. The Order’s stone castle was built in 1253 and over the course of time a small village grew up next to it.
Sabile town, wine hill
Sabile Wine Hill can most certainly be considered the symbol of Sabile. Even the coat of arms of Sabile bears a cluster of grapes. Sabile Wine Hill is the world's most northern open-air vineyard as mentioned in Guiness World Record Book.
Abavas rumba waterfall
The waterfall is 35 metres wide and 0.5 metres high. The AbavasRumba area is one of the most beautiful and popular recreation places in Latvia.
The Venta waterfall
The Venta waterfall (Ventas rumba) is the widest waterfall in Europe. This 249 meter wide naturally formed waterfall is associated with a number of legends and historic events. Because of the device for catching fish which was invented by Duke Jacob, in old times Kuldīga was known as a town where salmon were caught in the air.
The Old Brick Bridge across the Venta river
The old brick bridge across the Venta was built in 1874 and is the longest bridge of this kind of road bridge in Europe – 14 m. It was built according to 19th century standards – 500 feet long and 26 feet wide, allowing two carriages to pass. It consisted of seven spans of brick vaults. During World War I two of the spans were blown up.
