Mount Vesuvius is a volcano in the Gulf of Naples. It is one of several volcanoes which form the Campanian volcanic arc. Vesuvius consists of a large cone partially encircled by the steep rim of a summit caldera caused by the collapse of an earlier and originally much higher structure. It is best known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the burying and destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum and several other settlements.
After lunch, you will be led to Pompeii, when you will experience how Pompeii must have been like over 2,000 years ago! You will be surrounded and completely immersed in 360 degree virtual reality that goes on a historical journey of the re-creation of ancient Pompeii - just as it was before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
A professional guide and staff member will check you in and give you your "time traveling equipment" (your 3D VR headset). You will follow your guide into the ruins and arrive at your first point of interest (see list of sights below). Listen to your fun and passionate guide as he or she speaks about current points of interest. Next, you will be instructed to put on your 3D headset and witness the point of interest you are standing in front of come back to life.
After watching the 2 to 6 minute 'virtual reality scene' you will have time to take pictures and speak with your guide.
