Your guide and driver will meet you at your place of stay in Tbilisi and you’ll start your journey to the historical monuments of Mtskheta town protected by UNESCO World Heritage. The town was once the capital of ancient Kingdom of Iberia (East Georgia). You’ll visit most outstanding monuments – Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari Monastery – located in the town. Both of them are historically significant in the development of medieval architecture throughout the Caucasus.
After visiting Mtskheta sights you’ll continue your way to Jinvali reservoir and reach the rafting base camp. Here you’ll first complete safety training and then enjoy grade II-III rafting on Pshavi’s Aragvi. Total length of the route is 13 km. After rafting adventure take a lunch break with delicious hot barbeque and Georgian wine.
Next head to Ananuri fortress, which once was the seat of a powerful feudal dynasty. The earliest fortifications date from 13th century. The complex has been on the tentative list for inclusion into the UNESCO World Heritage Site program from 2007. Explore the fortress with its fortifications and remains of old citadel.
After excursion to Ananuri, you’ll be driven back to your place of Tbilisi.
