Take a 9-hour adventure to the ancient fortress of Laitan in Hechuan Province, north of Urban Chongqing. Explore the ancient walkways, see a large stone carving of Buddha on the mountain, and enjoy a local lunch in town.Get picked-up by your guide at 9:00am from your hotel lobby, and set off for the ancient town of Laitan. The town faces Jialing River and has cliffs on three sides. With the rosy clouds rising slowly, the town seems to be in the clouds. After arrival, explore the 200-year-old fortress, wander along its antiquated streets with local shops, pay a visit to riverside Er’fo temple which accommodate 1,500 years old Tang Dynasty giant Buddha carvings.
Take a break for local's lunch in town. Later, continue to Diaoyu Fortress, which is the main battlefield for the war between ethnic Han and Mongolian armies 1,000 years ago during Song Dynasty. Count the pavement steps up the Daioyu Mountain, to enter ancient fortress gate and defense. Learn about the calligraphy and Buddhist carvings on the cliffs. After your adventure, head back to Chongqing, and get dropped off at your hotel.
