Explore the highlights of Barcelona and Montserrat on this 8-hour private guided tour. Visit downtown Barcelona, with its historical quarters and art nouveau buildings, as well as The Palau Nacional, or “National Palace", the main site of the 1929 International Exhibition on the hill of Montjuïc, the best views of the city. Explore the monastery at Montserrat, where you can see the Black Madonna, and take a funicular ride to the top for impressive panoramic views of the mountains.You will be picked-up from your hotel, airport or port at approximately 09:00 by your driver/guide in a Mercedes Viano minivan, or similar, with seating for up to seven passengers. The tour will stop at locations within Barcelona such as the Sagrada Familia, where you will be able to admire this impressive structure from the outside. Visit downtown, the Gothic Quarter, with its Art Nouveau buildings such as La Pedrera and Casa Batlló, one of Antoni Gaudí’s masterpieces. You’ll also pay a visit to the seaside and the beach, the Olympic Port and Montjuïc Hill to see the Olympic Ring and stadium, Calvatrara Tower, the National Palace and the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc.
Montserrat is an approximate 50-minute drive from Barcelona. Once there, you’ll learn from your driver/guide the history of this still-active monastery, with its community of 80 monks, as well as one of the best children’s choirs in Europe. The choir sings Monday thru Friday at 13:00, and noon on Sundays, with Saturdays off. You’ll have some free time in Montserrat to explore the top of the hill via funicular, or visit the museum and take-in the “Montserrat behind closed doors” audio-visual show.
There will be time to stop for snacks along the way, at your own expense.
