Malacca is just a drive away from Singapore and makes for a fantastic day trip. Join this tour to explore the various exciting places of multi-cultural interest at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Malacca city center showcases unique history and culture gained from previous colonization by Europeans such as the Portuguese, Dutch and British. The journey on the road from Singapore to Malacca takes around 3-4 hours. Savor the view outside as you travel across Singapore and Malaysia or catch a nap in the vehicle.

Once at Malacca, the first thing that catches your eye will most probably be the iconic red church that Malacca is so famously marketed for to tourists. This building is called Christ Church, said to be the oldest protestant church in Malaysia. On the opposite side of Christ Church is the Red Clock Tower that was erected in 1886.

Next, you will get to see Porta de Santiago (A'Famosa). This is one of the most popular sites in Malacca. It is a major historical landmark and probably the most photographed structure in Malacca. It is one of the oldest surviving European architectural remains in the whole of Asia. This tiny gate is the last remains of what used to be a mighty fortress.

Following the white flight of stairs up along the slope, you will find yourself at St Paul's Church. Although what remains of the church are now only ruins, the strong and thick bricks are a reminder that this chapel used to be a magnificent piece of architecture at that time.

In front of the church there is the Statue of St. Francis Xavier, a missionary who unfortunately passed away on his way to mainland China and thus ended up with his remains being first taken to Malacca before being brought to the final resting place at Goa. His right hand that was used to give blessings was cut off and brought to Rome. Coincidentally, a day after this statue was put up, a tree fell on it, causing the statue's right arm to fall off too.

Before ending your Malacca tour, drop a few coins into the famous Hang Li Poh's Well to make a wish. This historical well is one of the oldest wells in Malacca and carries with it the stories of the Chinese princess married to the Sultan during the Ming Dynasty as well as the struggle between the Portuguese and the Dutch.

Lastly, bring a sweet touch to end your long and fulfilling day with all sorts of food products at the Tan Kin Hock Local Product Centre. Bring back local goodies such as coconut candy and pineapple tarts and stock up on unique yet inexpensive spices like sambal ikan bilis and chilli prawn floss.

We then head back to Singapore.
