New Zealand's infamous Castle was built over a century ago by William Larnach high up on the hills of the Otago Peninsula.Begin with day with a city sights tour including the University of Otago, Signal Hill, Baldwin Street and we visit the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin's oldest, where you will find the tomb of the Larnach family. Explore the inner city with a visit inside Dunedin's Grand Railway Station and First Church. Then, head out from the city to Saint Clair Beach and on to the Otago Peninsula. Experience breath-taking views along the high road with photo stops on-route to Larnach Castle. On arrival at the Castle its time for a light lunch, at your own cost, in the Ballroom Cafe. A variety of food is available at good prices. Perhaps you would like to try some New Zealand fish and chips?

After lunch, your guide will escort you throughout the entire castle, from the gun room below to the views from the turret and all the marvels in between. Get all the details as we explore the Larnach family’s legacy and tell of their amazing story.

The castle's award winning garden is one of national significance and there will be an opportunity to explore this as well. On a clear day you might even spot the cruise ship in dock at Port Chalmers across the harbor. The tour will depart the castle for a leisurely drive back to Port Chalmers and we can take you right up to the ship's gangway on the wharf to finish the tour.
