With a morning transfer from your hotel in Chiang Rai, you will head to the historical city, and former capital of the Lanna Kingdom, Chiang Sean.
Once known as Wiang Hiran Nakhon Ngoen Yang, and having passed on the title of capital city over to Chiang Rai in 1262, vestiges of its past glory are still evident. You will see the ruins of the old double city walls, antiques and the distinctive, Buddhist sculpture style that evolved in the late 13th century.
Continue on and visit the exact sport where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (formerly Burma) meet, known as The Golden Triangle. It is here at this very location that the extensive trading of opium and papaver took place between the three neighboring countries.
Moving on, you make your way to Mae Sai, a small trading town right on the Thailand – Myanmar border, and the northern most point of Thailand. Here you will enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant recommended by your guide.
After lunch, you will continue to Doi Mae Salong, where you will visit the Akha Hill Tribe at Baan Samyak Village and the Yao Hill Tribe at Baan Pong Pa Kham Village. Learn of the simple and traditional hill tribe lifestyle.
Making your way back to Chiang Rai, you will be returned to your hotel at approximately 5.30pm.
