The Arkansas River drops over 5,000 feet over its first 125 miles from its headwaters in Leadville, Colorado through the pink granite walls of Browns Canyon, into the 1,000 foot shadows of the famous Royal Gorge. Halfway through your adventure you will partake in a deli style lunch along the banks of the Arkansas River. Knowledgeable and friendly guides will inform you of the local fauna and flora of the section and point out sites to see along the journey through the canyon.
This spectacular river valley boasts views of the 14,000-foot Collegiate and Sangre de Cristo Mountain ranges. It continues through the snowy peaks of the Sawatch Range through Big Horn Sheep Canyon to the finale of the Royal Gorge near Canon City.
