You will visit the city of Antananarivo and the Lemur Park to meet lemurs up close and personal - there are 9 species of them living freely in this Lemurs Park which is located 22 km from the center of Antananarivo in an area of this botanical park is of 4 to 6 hectares of 6000 planted trees.You will be picked up from your Antananarivo hotel 8.30am in the morning and depart for Ambohimanga - the blue hill classified as one of the old heritage sites of UNESCO. There are said to be twelve royal hills surrounding Antananarivo - and you will be going to visit Ambohimanga village which is it is located 25km from the capital. It has long been one of the most important spiritual and historic sites for the Malagasy people. The site includes a complex of royal buildings and places of ritual. Ambohimanga is protected under Madagascar’s heritage laws and is listed as a world heritage site. It simply means “blue hill”, the most important and highest one of the twelve sacred hills of Madagascar’s capital. Andrianampoinimerina is the most famous king of Ambohimanga, his wish and dream is to unite the Malagasy tribes and principalities to one single people. After visiting this palace, you will have the opportunity to see the local lifestyle in this village before enjoying lunch at Relais Du Rova.
After lunch, continue to the Lemurs' Park. It is a private reserve located 25km from the capital, close to Katsaoka river and between Fenoarivo and Imerintsiatosika. You will find birds, medicinal plants, reptiles and mostly lemurs here (black and white ruffed lemur, common brown lemur, coquerel’s sifaka, crowned sifaka, eastern lesser bamboo lemur, mongoose lemur and ring tailed lemur). It will take approx 45 minutes to visit the reserve.
After, you will be taken back to the city center and have time to roam the streets of art. Around 4.30pm, you will be taken to visit the handicraft market, where you can find souvenier items like embrodiery - usually colourful and simplistic on white cloth, wood carvings - of almost everything, amonites and semi precious stones, raffia lemurs and giraffes, model bicycles and pousse pousses made from metal cans and paper with dried flowers in it. Once you are done with the shopping at you will be dropped off to hotel around 5pm.
