This full-day tour to Cameron Highlands start at 7am and you will be pick up and drop off to Kuala Lumpur. This tour led by a professional English speaking tour and driver. Cameron Highlands was named after the discoverer William Cameron in 1885, a British government Surveyor who came across, "A fine plateau with gentle slopes", while he was researching through dense jungle on a mapping expedition. Creating a hill station in the area was first voiced in 1888 by Sir Hugh Low, a Perak resident who propose the idea it might be a suitable place for a retreat and farmland. Cameron Highlands was a heaven for the British who were stationed in Malaya as it provided relief from the hot and humid tropical climate of the lowlands.
Cameron Highlands stands at 1524 meters (5000 feet) above sea level, enjoys a cool climate, with temperatures rarely higher than 25°C and low than 10 °C. In 1929, John Archibald Russell, who was the son of a British administrative officer started a tea plantation which is now the famous BOH Tea Plantation. BOH stands for Best of Highland. The other tea plantation was established in 1932, by the Shuparshad family and known as Bharat Tea Plantation in Cameron Valley brand. You will have chance to learn and understand the tea processing.
Cameron Highlands is the nation's prime producer of fresh vegetables as well such as cabbage, chili, cauliflower, broccoli and tomatoes. The strawberries and flowers are successfully cultivated and are the main export to Singapore. You can also self-pluck your strawberry from the tree.
