A full-day outing that includes everything you would want a wine tour in Chile! We think it is because we mix our passion for biking with our knowledge of Chile’s famous wine valley, the Maipo valley, to make this the most unique wine excursion in Chile. We have mapped out an awe-inspiring bike tour through one of the most famous valleys of Chile, offering amazing views of the vineyards back-dropped with the majestic Andes. You’ll be able to ride through the vineyards themselves, giving you a chance to inspect the vines and grapes up close. Come with us just 40 minutes south of Santiago into the heart of the historic Maipo Wine Valley, where the wealthiest Chilean families in the 19th century began experimenting with fine wine production, using the best Bordeaux grapes and best of Chilean terroir.
The tour begin around 9am at the front door of your Santiago accommodations. You'll be picked up with by the local team who will have all the equipment. The total drive will take about 40 minutes to the valley, a perfect amount of time for the group to get to know each other. When you arrive in the pueblo of Alto Jahuel around 10:15am, the group will unload the bikes and equipment from the transportation. Enjoy a traditional Chilean breakfast/snack before starting your adventure.
On the way to the first vineyard, you'll pass through a local village, where you can see the local people and understand how they live. Most of them work in Chile’s agricultural industries and will be going through their day-to-day tasks.Soon after, the national landmark hacienda of Doña Paula Jaraquemada will welcome you to Viña Santa Rita. You'll peddle through the greenery and be able to get up-close-and-personal in your exploration of the vineyards.
With the majestic Andes as the back-drop, you will ride through the vineyards of Santa Rita and Carmen until you reach the Carmen Winery. Its state-of-the-art production facility produces some of the finest Chilean wines around. Following the winery, you'll travel to the organic vineyard and gardens of Viña Nativa where you'll experience the symbiotic relationship between the vines and flowers. As you stroll through the vineyard, make friends with the resident swans, ducks, chickens, llamas and deer.
You'll ride back to Santa Rita’s beautiful cellars to visit their state-of-the-art production facilities. You'll see how they produce all the delicious wine; and visit their history-rich cellars to learn how the production of wine, and this vineyard in particular, had a role in Chile’s independence. After this it’s tasting time! A chance to try four delicious wines from Nativa, Carmen and Santa Rita. All this awaits the group in the vineyard’s cozy historic cellars. You'll even get to keep the glass as a souvenir afterwards!
By this point, you'll be ready for some lunch, so you'll head back to the family-run restaurant for a traditional Chilean lunch. Once you are fully satiated, it's time to jump back in the van for the ride back to your accommodations.
