Meet your guide near Florence Duomo — aka the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore — and start your experience with a short walk to an ancient rectory. Once inside, sit down for a short (approx. 30 minutes) introductory video about the cathedral’s history, peppered with exclusive images and reconstructions.

With your head full of new knowledge about the site, follow your guide into the oldest part of the cathedral complex — the baptistery — and up to the matroneum. The elevated gallery was once reserved just for women, and boasts a series of ornate mosaic tiles that line the walls. Walk around, admire bird’s-eye views over the marble baptistery floors below, and ask your guide any questions you may have about the site’s history.

After exploring the baptistery, head inside the cathedral itself. Learn about the impressive hoard of artwork inside the place of worship, such as Giorgio Vasari’s The Last Judgement fresco and the Renaissance stained glass windows.

At the end of your visit, follow your guide outside the cathedral to a nearby bar for a glass of Chianti wine with bread, cheese and balsamic vinegar.
