This trip offers the opportunity to be led into a place that few people have ever been. This helicopter exploration trip is an experience for those wanting to not only see and walk on a glacier, but to truly explore one as well. Given that glaciers are constantly changing, the options for navigation are truly limitless.
The helicopter leaves from Seward's local airport, and the views seen from the flight up to the ice are spectacular. After flying up through an alpine canyon, the helicopter lands relatively close to the glacier access – just a short hike to the ice!
Under our guidance, you will hike deep into the glacier’s crevasse fields on this tour where you can be up close and personal to the awesome power and beauty of this massive glacier. Up higher in the faster moving sections of the glacier that are still creating the landscape around us we can almost feel the ancient flow of glacier ice make its way down the valley.
After the hiking tour is done, the helicopter takes a thrilling canyon run down the mountain and over Resurrection Bay back to Seward.
This tour provides the hardy hiker with 3 hours of exploration- plenty of time to become intimately acquainted with another world.
Permitted with the Chugach National Forest.
