This one-day wine tour includes a visit to the Royal Castle of Amboise, a lunch in a restaurant in a troglodyte house and wine tasting accompanied by comments of wine producers.
The tour starts when our guide picks you up at your hotel and you are going directly to the Royal Castle of Amboise. You'll partake in a 1 hour free visit with audioguides of the Royal House, the Chapel (Leonardo da Vinci's tomb) and the gardens in the magnificent Chateau d'Amboise. The cradle of the Renaissance, the white castle of Amboise is reflected in the waters of the Loire, towering over the city. In the history of France, the Amboise was marked by the seal of unprecedented greatness - because philosophers, humanists, sculptors, gardeners and artists from all over the kingdom of France, Flanders and Italy were gathered there. One of the most famous inhabitants of Amboise was Leonardo da Vinci, who came here in 1516 and lived in the castle until his death in 1519. It was here, in the chapel in the castle, where he was buried.
For your special experience in the course of the tour, you can rest in a cave restaurant situated in a unique natural surrounding - a real ancient mountain cave dating back to troglodyte era, which creates a perfect atmosphere for tasting Loire wines and making wonderful memories.
A cave was dug in the chalky valley that had been used for wine maturation process for many decades, into an atypical setting where the genuineness has been preserved. Take an unexpected break tasting homemade food in warm and cozy atmosphere, charming due to the huge fireplace and to the woodwork adorning the room. After lunch you will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the production process of wine at the winery. Your will be provided with a tour accompanied by a professional guide and of course tasting of 6 wines - 1 rose, 1 white wine and 4 red AOC Chinon accompanied by local products. The vineyard covers 17 hectares, from the plateaus of clay and silica of Saint Louans, family birthplace since the fifteenth century, to the limestone slopes of the appellation. The property produces 4 different red wines of Chinon, a rosé and a white Chinon wine.
