Tour “one of America’s largest and most interesting collections of European Old Master paintings” including works by the greats such as Peter Paul Rubens, Sandro Botticelli, and Anthony van Dyck as well as notable students of da Vinci and Rembrandt.After meeting your docent at 3pm on Thursdays and Fridays, you will begin your walk through time to learn about some of the highlights of the European Old Master Painting Collection.
The European Old Master Painting Collection at the Museum & Gallery at Bob Jones University beautifully traces the artistic, cultural, and religious history of Western Europe from the 14th-19th centuries. Works by recognized artists such as Rubens, van Dyck, Reni, Tintoretto, Le Brun, Cranach, Ribera, and Murillo are aesthetically exhibited with period furniture, sculpture, and tapestries to lend a period ambiance to the galleries and give patrons a panoramic view of ages past. Of special note, M&G's baroque paintings represent one of the most important collections in America. M&G also house the Bowen Collection of Antiquities contains artifacts that span 37 centuries and represent everyday life from ancient Egyptian, Roman, and Hebrew cultures, such as Egyptian funerary objects and a first-century ossuary.
