Make your own way to the departure marina on the edges of Muscat. Then, board the fast and comfortable cabin cruiser, the MY Teer, for its weekly trip to research dolphin and whale activity in the waters off Muscat.
During the cruise, the crew will use their local knowledge and hydrophones to gather data on dolphin and whale locations, numbers and behaviors. Once back on land, they then report their findings to the Environment Society of Oman’s Whale and Dolphin Research Project, which works to preserve these wonderful mammals.
Settle on deck and keep watch over the open sea. Many different species abound in Muscat's warm waters, including playful spinner dolphins that can live in pods of as many as 100. While you sail, learn more about the different varieties and their characteristics from your expert guide and the professional crew who know much about the local marine life.
With luck, catch sight of these beautiful creatures. Watch as they play and jump in the water and snap photos as they frolic near the boat. There’s also a chance of spotting the whales that visit here from time to time between September and May. Keep a lookout for huge humpback whales or even orcas, although sightings are very rare.
As you watch and wait, keep your energy up with the complimentary fresh fruit, water and fruit juice and absorb the views over Oman’s beautiful coastline and mountains.
After roughly two hours, arrive back at the marina, where your tour ends when you disembark and say goodbye to the crew.
