Diamante’s Animal Sanctuary is Guanacaste’s largest and was built in partnership with La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Guests can interact with animals with up close viewing and even attend a feeding. Diamante is home to the largest variety of species in one location.
Diamante is home to the largest variety of species in one location. The rescue animals were donated by MINAE, the Costa Rican Ministry of Wildlife and include sloths, monkeys, pumas, jaguars, toucans and more. Diamante is home to dozens of species of frogs, snakes, birds and a world-class butterfly observatory. Diamante is against the capture or trade of illegally confiscated animals and along with our partners at Waterfall Gardens; they are working to release offspring of some of the animals into protected zones across Costa Rica.
Sloths: Both species of Sloths, a two-toed and a three-toed, are residents of Diamante Sloth’s are visitors more requested animal to see as many consider them to be the cutest animal in Costa Rica.
Butterfly Observatory – Diamante’s butterfly observatory is over 6,000 square feet and provides numerous species of beautiful butterflies. With hundreds of fluttering creatures in a single habitat, their delicate beauty will amaze you and one might even land on you.
Crocodiles –Visit the reptile where you can admire a great predator, the crocodile- Crocodiles Acutus, see one of natures most powerful reptiles in existence. The crocodile grows to over 5 meters long, and its ferocious bite can deliver up to 1750 kilograms of pressure.
Exotic Birds - Toucans, Scarlet Macaws, Grosbeaks, Tanagers and more fly freely in the bird Sanctuary at Diamante. A true bird watcher’s paradise, you will see some of the most exotic and colorful birds of Costa Rica, no binoculars needed.
Hummingbirds – Diamante is home to dozens of different species of hummingbirds. Over 50 different hummingbird species have been reportedly seen in Costa Rica, and it is possible to see many of them here at Diamante! Enjoy their beauty and feed them by hand!
Monkeys –Monkeys are also considered a must see by visitors to Costa Rica. At Diamante Eco Adventure Park we have large natural habitats that allow the monkeys incredible space to move about.
Reptiles - Diamante is home to many species of reptiles that you can view up close. Our reptile and amphibian exhibit includes over 30 species of frogs, toads, lizards, geckos and snakes, all of which are native to Costa Rica. Learn about Costa Rica’s important species of poisonous snakes.
Horseback Riding –The Horseback tours at Diamante Eco Adventure Park are the ideal way to experience spectacular views, backcountry wildlife, and trails winding through dry tropical forest. You can also opt for a ride along the Pacific Ocean on our beach ride. With our professional riding staff and top trainers, you can enjoy a private tour or ride with a group.
