Have you ever dreamed you could design your own tour of a Gothic Asylum or Castle? At the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum (TALA) you now have the chance. Your group will direct your guide through all four floors of the Kirkbride Building and even the exteriors if you wish. Enjoy views from areas of the Asylum that the general public doesn't get to see. Take this customer driven tour with TALA's tour guide trainer and veteran guide, Greg Hill.
Arrive twenty minutes before your tour to register. Parking is available on either side of the main entrance. Just inside the the entrance of TALA, six computer stations are available on the left for your convenience. Upon completing your waiver, please approach the information desk to complete your check-in. Soon Greg will pick you up in that same area and your customized tour will begin!

Design your own one of a kind two hour guided trek through Thomas Kirkbride’s massive Insane Asylum.
Take this customized journey with an experienced guide whose tour, including route and subject matter, will be directed by you. This is a non-scripted personal tour that can include: local history, architecture, a day in the life of a patient, treatments of the mentally ill, paranormal experiences and more.
Your Guide: Greg Hill is a retired History Teacher with a Master’s Degree in U.S. History concentrating on the American Civil War. His knowledge pertaining to the War here in Weston and its effect on the Asylum is unequaled and he has been essential in tour development as well as training our new guides. Greg is also a master woodcrafter whose system of cabinets can be seen in the gift shop. Throughout his seven years as a guide Greg has researched tirelessly and had many experiences, all interesting, and some quite chilling. Over two hours guests can travel anywhere inside the Asylum other than the clock tower, basement, and anywhere with obvious safety hazards.
This tour is limited to fifteen people and visitors are asked to wear closed toed shoes and appropriate attire for the heat. TALA isn't equipped for air conditioning.
