  • Red Fort: An imposing octagonal citadel built in 1638 by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. It is constructed mainly of red sandstone.
  • Qutub Minar: Constructed in red sandstone, this is the highest monument tower in India at 72.5 metes. Also see a centuries old Iron Pillar there.
  • Humayun’s Tomb: An exquisite mid-16th century tomb of Mughal emperor with landscaping around.
  • Raj Ghat: A memorial to Mahatma Gandhi who was cremated here in 1948.
  • Gandhi Smriti: Location where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life, before he was assassinated in 1948.
  • Safdarjung’s Tomb: A sandstone and marble mausoleum built in 1754.
  • Purana Qila: Meaning Old Fort, this mid-16th century fort boasts of extensive ramparts and a lake nearby
  • Gurudwara Bangla Sahib: The white marble gurudwara, with a gold plated dome, is the most prominent Sikh temple. It has a pool inside, known for its holy water.
  • Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk: Constructed of red sandstone and marble by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1650 AD. 25,000 people can pray here at a time.
  • Bahai Lotus Temple: The Bahai house of worship designed in the shape of a lotus flower that sits amidst landscaped gardens & pools.
  • Lodhi Gardens: A park spread over 90 acres and contains tombs and other architectural works of the 15th century.
  • Mehrauli Archaeological Park: Mehrauli Archaeological Park is spread over 200 acres and consists of around 100 historically significant monuments.
  • Hauz Khas Village & Deer Park: Deer Park is popular for recreation and does have deer. One can also see the ruins of a tomb and a lake nearby. Hauz Khas Village is dotted with contemporary restaurants and designer outlets.
  • National Zoological Park: The National Zoological Park (originally Delhi Zoo) is a 176-acre zoo with a motley collection of animals and birds.
  • Dilli Haat, INA: A government managed market of traditional arts, crafts, textiles and cuisines from different parts of India.
  • Connaught Place / Janpath: A round market with colonnaded walkways, it is also the commercial center. Janpath is a lively market popular for inexpensive clothes, imitation jewelry and antiques.
