Lunch and a seasonal 1-hour Potomac River cruise are included.Your VIP experience begins outside the Library of Congress, where you’ll meet your tour guide. You will be escorted across the street, to begin your reserved entry into the U.S. Capitol Building for a 45-minute tour of one of the most symbolically important and architecturally impressive buildings in the nation.
On your guided walking tour of the Capitol, you will see the Crypt, the Rotunda, and National Statuary Hall, and also spend time at the U.S. Capitol’s Visitor Center.
On your way to the next stop (the White House), you will past the Newseum, the Canadian Embassy, and the National Gallery of Art.
When arriving at the White House, you’ll not only see the Executive Residence of the President and his family, you will also see the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. This stop also includes a walk past Lafayette Park, honoring the Marquis de Lafayette, leader of French forces.
Your next stop is the National World War II Memorial. En route, we will pass the headquarters of the American Red Cross, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Organization of American States (OAS) - representing the U.S., Canada, and 35 Latin American countries. Onward, to the Jefferson Memorial.
Once you have marveled at the Jefferson Memorial and have taken photos, we will visit the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial – dedicated in 2011 – just across the Tidal Basin.
On the walking part of the tour, you will visit the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and, via a nice stroll along the tree line, you will emerge in front of the Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
For a unique experience, this tour offers a seasonal, leisurely cruise on the Potomac River (March 15 to October 6) with your guide, who will answer questions. Lunch will be provided onboard. (In the winter months, we forego the cruise and visit a local indoor market for lunch.)
Returning from the cruise, we re-board the bus to visit the Iwo Jima Memorial - with spectacular views of Arlington Cemetery and the Washington, D.C. landscape.
The second to the last stop is the Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) Memorial, which will transport you back in time to the years of 1933-1945.
Finally, visit the popular Washington Monument on the National Mall. A reserved entry ticket will be provided, granting quicker access with no waiting in line. Once inside and after a brief security screening, proceed to the ground floor lobby for an elevator ride to the observation deck 500 feet off the ground. Enjoy a stellar view of the entire region from this unique vantage point atop the world's tallest obelisk monument. Also, visit the 490-foot level museum and exhibits before concluding the tour with an elevator descent to the lobby.
