In the past, European monarchies used to enjoy special privileges, dwelling in their extravagant palaces decorated with the most valuable art-objects. All the once-inaccessible- secrets await to be discovered at Romania’s most distinguished royal residence.
Located in Sinaia, a picturesque mountainous region not far from the capital, the Peleş Castle delights the eye, revealing to be an architectural gem in a mosaic of styles: Renaissance, Gothic, Baroque, etc. Initially, King Carol I of Romania designed it as a royal summer residence and meeting venue for the most important foreign delegations. Both Peleş and Pelişor Castle (whose name, the diminutive of Peleş, already announces it as a small-scale replica of the grand palace) will take you into the discrete world of the royalty, a century back.
Later on we invite you to visit Sinaia Monastery, a seventeenth century monument called the “Cathedral of the Carpathians”. Here you have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Eastern-Orthodox worship. In order to preserve the atmosphere for a while longer, our last stop is Urlateanu Mansion, a manor house where you’ll have the chance to taste exquisite wines.
