Punta Tombo is one of the most famous and visited coasts along the eastern coast of Argentinean Patagonian. You'll surely be amazed by one of the most fascinating shows in nature: the Magellan penguin continental colony. Get ready for a day of fun and adventure through northern Patagonia and the small towns that make this region famous. We'll start the day with a visit to Punta Tombo penguin rookery at Rawson Port. At this stop we will have the chance to watch penguins in their own habitat as they scurry and play on the rocks. What's more, we'll be able to watch toninas overas - a special type of dolphin typical to the area.
You will have the option of boarding a boat here for the dolphin watching if you like. As we continue south on the tour we will make a stop in the city of Trelew. After a small tour of the Patagonian village, we'll stop for a break. Trelew is home to an impressive Paleontological Museum which we will have the opportunity to visit on the break.
After the visit to the museum we'll get ready for more traveling!
We will continue our trek south towards the quaint Welsh town of Gaiman. You'll learn about the historical places and history of the settlement and the traditional building styles in the colony. We will get to stop for a traditional cup of Welsh tea-something that princess Diana did when she visited!
As the sun is setting behind the water we will return to Puerto Madryn.
