Experience a day with monks and enjoy quality time at a temple. On this tour, not only do you visit a temple but you will also take a close look at the life of monks by doing what monks do in everyday life such as Japanese calligraphy and matcha-making.
The temple you will be visiting is called the "Honkouji", and it is around a 1-hour drive from Tokyo. You will meet up at the local tour provider's office that is about a 10-minute walk from the Harajuku station at 9:45am and move to the destination by car.
Once you arrive at the temple, a monk will be your guide for the day. The number of participants is limited to 8 people, so that hospitable service is ensured for each participant. There will be a translator to help you communicate with the monks.
You will spend around 3 to 4 hours at a temple doing different activities you've never experienced before such as Japanese calligraphy, matcha-making, etc. You will also get the chance to sit down with the monks and ask them any questions you may have about their practice and lives.
After the tour, you will head back to Harajuku station to get back to the bustling city life.
