3. From Old Quarter in Sintra Villa: Through labyrinthine gardens and palaces you will get to know the mysterious Sintra. It is an inspiring and intimate track that combines nature, culture, history and mysticism. This option includes the entrances for Pena and Moorish Castle.Option 1: Make your way through a luxuriant forest and discover lookouts on the granitic boulders tops. Enjoy this microclimate while walking through the forest shadow or mist. There are remains from prehistory such as the 4,500 year-old Tholos as well as the 16th-century Peninha Chapel. The chapel offers a high, panoramic view of the Cascais Platform and the ocean, perfect for relaxing at sunset with a glimpse of the mist.

Option 2: Take a stroll along the shoreline to find wild beaches between the cliffs. The highlight will be seeing Cabo da Roca and the 140m cliff drop straight to the sea. Due to its location as the western-most tip of the Euro-Asian continent, it was used as a geographical reference for thousands of years for coastal ship passage. This hiking path offers a geographically and biologically diverse landscape with remains of maquis (Mediterranean vegetation) in some areas.

Option 3: The Romantic Views hike goes around the Old Quarter in Sintra starting from 200m and climbing up the hill to reach Pena Palace at 529m. Trace the tracks through the forest and gardens with many interesting interpretations of the botanical and geological history of the area. The main attraction will be finally reaching the colorful Pena Palace before discovering the hidden Villa Sasseti on the downhill track. For this option, it is also possible to stroll along the walls of the Moorish Castle or other old constructions.
