You will explore the city Datong with your English-speaking guide and visit the prosperous historical and cultural relics, including Yungang Grottoes, Huyan Temple and Nine Dragon Screen. Experience the history as well as the natural beauty of this beautiful city!You will be picked up from your hotel in Datong at 8：30am and transferred to the Yungang Grottoes, a World Cultural Heritage Site since 2001 and also one of China's largest ancient grottoes.
Yungang Grottoes have 45 major caves of the size of Kukan 252 and more than 51,000 stone status. There are 53 grottoes remained at the site. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and afterwards visit the Huayan Temple located on the south western side of Datong. There are two separate sections to the monastery that were built during the Liao Dynasty. Its structure is based on the classic Buddhist Huayan "Sutra" but one thing very unique about the temple is that it is facing east instead of south.
Finally, you will go to the famous Nine Dragon Screen. The Nine Dragon Screen was built for Prince Hongwu, the 13th son of the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD). It is the oldest and largest glazed screen in China with the size of 45.5 meters long, 8 meters high, and 22 meters thick. When the tour ends, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
