You will be picked up from your hotel in Datong at 8:30am and transferred to Yinxian County to visit the famous wooden pagoda.
As a Liao dynasty structure, Ying Xian Wooden Pagoda was built in 1056. The wooden pagoda is one of the planetĀ“s oldest wooden buildings. Not a single nail was used in the construction of the nine-story, 67m-high structure, which has thus far survived seven major earthquakes.
Around noon enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch you will head to the famous Yungang Grottoes. In 2001, the site was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site. There are fifty-three grottoes remained at the site in Yungang and there are 45 major caves, the size of Kukan 252, and more than 51,000 stone status. Yungang Grottoes is considered one of China's largest ancient grottoes alongside three others - the Dunhuang Mogao grottoes, the Longmen Grottoes and Tianshui Maiji Mountain Grottoes. These four are called China's four big grottoes. When the tour ends, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
