This highly educational tour gives participants a fantastic opportunity to learn about Nazi Germany in a time-efficient way. Spend the day with a Dachau-licensed guide, and learn about Adolf Hitler, Munich and its association with the Nazi party, and the concentration camp system. On the morning of your tour, meet your guide in Marienplatz in central Munich. Then, set off to visit Dachau Concentration Camp, utilizing the highly efficient and modern Munich transportation system.
Spend three hours exploring the memorial site with your licensed guide, who will explain how the camp system came into being, and why the Nazis opened Dachau as the prototype 'model' camp. The prisoners and their memory will be honored as their plight in the camp system will be explained. Questions are encouraged, and your guide will be passionate about explaining details in historical context.
After, return to Marienplatz and take the opportunity to pick up some refreshments (own expense) before joining back up with your guide for your Third Reich walking tour, which focuses on the Nazi period but also gives an overview of contemporary Munich with tips for places to visit during your stay.
On the tour, you'll learn about Hitler, his association with Munich and the rise of the Nazi party. See where Hitler joined the German Workers Party, the building where the SS were founded, and the route of the Beer Hall Putsch. You'll also hear about the German resistance and White Rose Movement. Visit, too, the building where the Munich Agreement of 1938 was signed and Königsplatz, where the Nazis would conduct rallies and impress foreign dignitaries.
When your tour concludes, you'll have the option of being escorted to the main train station in Munich or remaining in central Munich to continue sightseeing independently.
