You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Dazu County of Chongqing to visit those wondrous rock carvings which is an excellent representation of Chinese grotto art for the morning. The work of Dazu grottoes and carvings began in 650 A.D. in Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D) and carried out till Ming (1368-1644 A.D) and Qing (1644-1911 A.D) dynasties. It enjoys equal popularity with Dunhuang frescoes and forms the trilogy with Yungang and Longmen Grottoes. In 1999, UNESCO listed Dazu Stone Carvings as a world cultural heritage site. There are 75 spots of cliff side carvings showcasing more than 50,000 statues and over 100,000 Chinese characters of inscriptions and epigraphs under preservation. The two major sites among these 75 spots are North Hill (Beishan) and Baoding Hill (Baodingshan).
After lunch, you will be transferred back to Chongqing city and visit Eling Park, a popular vista and the highest spot in Chongqing overlooking the city. Afterwards, you will head back to the city center to visit People's Hall of Chongqing which was completed in 1954 to memorize China's resistance in wars and the establishment of the new government. It is one of the top 10 classic Asian architectures in 20th century.
Your last stop of the tour is Chongqing Stilwell Museum (Flying Tiger Memorial) which was once used as an important lodging place by the Nationalist (KMT) government to accommodate VIPs during the war against Fascism. After that, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
