These monuments tell the glories of a city that for a long time was the capital of a duchy, under the Este Lords, who resided here from the sixteenth century. UNESCO has acknowledged the universal value of the city's monumental treasures by declaring the Cathedral, Piazza Grande and the Ghirlandina Tower Unesco world heritage. In the afternoon, we continue with the visit of a Traditional Balsamic Vinegar D.O.P. private production located in an amazing 1911 villa where we can taste 12, 25, 30, 50 years old vinegars.

The classic half-day tour of the historic center of Modena includes the outside of the Palazzo Ducale, the Piazza Grande, the interior (when possible and with a donation) the magnificent Duomo with its impressive bell tower known as the Ghirlandina, the interior of Palazzo Comunale with its prestigious frescoes (when possible and with entrance fee), the funny covered food market Albinelli, ending in the area of the Jewish ghetto.
If you want to spend the whole day in the historical centre of this beautiful city then you can also add the Renaissance church of San Pietro with its Benedictine monastery and the Baroque church of St. Augustine, once a pantheon of Este. Alternatively the splendid Galleria Estense with its paintings, sculptures and its archaeological collections.
After all those wonderful spots, we will move to the vinegar production (private transfer needed, to be booked after choosing the tour) where you will taste amazing D.O.P vinegars and enjoy the traditional history of this italian endowment.
