For those of you that want a racier drive, try the Classic Tour. After selecting your BMW Z4, you will get two-way headset radios connected to the tour guide’s radio, and you will drive off to climb up and down the Green Mountains, around sharp corners, past several waterfalls, over covered bridges and past beautiful scenery and the homestead of Robert Frost. You stop at the very funky Warren General Store for lunch and a little shopping before zipping through even more rustic terrain on our way home. The tour begins with the history of the estates with stories of the homeowners (30 minutes). Next up is an architectural tour of Bristol Vermont viewing many of the Queen Ann style homes with rounded porches. You will follow the road leading you to Downtown Bristol with its unique character is reviewed in front of the village green. (30 minutes is dedicated to Bristol.)
On to the Lord's Prayer Rock with the history about the rock (10 minutes). Prepare to stop at Bartlett Falls, the most popular swimming hole in Vermont, for a great photo opportunity (30 Minutes). Continue to drive up and over the Appalation Gap (Rt 17) with a historical account of the beginning of the landscape with stories about the Native Americans and their interactions with the British (20 minutes).
Stop at the summit and the Long Trail Crossing for another photo opportunity (15 minutes). Then stop at a Covered Bridge in Waitsfield (10 minutes). Take a break when you stop at on to the Warren Store, where you can use the $20 coupon per couple to buy your lunch and relax for about 45 minutes. After lunch you will cross the second covered bridge before making a stop at Moss Glen Falls on Hwy 100 (20 minutes). Through your headset, the tour guide will continue to give a historical review on the sugaring industry and a historical review of Ethan Allen the Green Mountian Boy (20 Minutes).
You will drive along Hwy 125 to Breadloaf campus and stop at Robert Frost wayside for a reading of a poem of Robert Frost's (30 minutes). Hear stories of Robert Frost and his life. Drive down the mountain and enjoy the winding road with spectacular views of the Adirondack Mountains (15 Minutes). You will then pass through East Middlebury and by the Waybury Inn, which is famous for being the outside shots for the Newhart Show. Though this scenery is more pastorial landscape, you will learn the history of dairy, apple orchards and the wool industry in this area (15 minutes).
After Middlebury you will make a stop at Linclon Peak Winery for a wine tasting (not included in the tour price) (45 Minutes) Finally, on toward the green mountains with stories of early prospectors and fun facts about Vermont's history and famous people (15 Minutes)
